DONATE TO OUR ANNUAL FUND
Your support is what allows us to keep our commitment to presenting contemporary works from the 20th and 21st centuries. Because we specialize in performing new music, the process and costs of our concerts can be different from other classical music ensembles. From securing the rights to perform scores of living composers to commissioning new works and inviting new-music specialists, we work hard to make sure that this exciting genre remains accessible to our eager audiences.
When you donate, you’ll become a member of one of our donor circles:
Publishers Circle ($25–74)
Did you know that SMO spends nearly $1000 to rent scores from publishers each concert? This season, about 60% of the music we present was written by living composers.
Musicians Circle ($75–149)
Each musician in our ensemble works intently to give quality and high energy performances for every concert. This means rehearsing complex and adventurous pieces and experimenting with new techniques to develop the unique sounds you hear at each performance. Without the talent and effort of our musicians, an SMO concert would never be possible.
Premiere Circle ($150–249)
Part of our mission is to present the newest music written and foster composition of new works. This season alone, we will present two world premieres and three US premieres!
Soloists Circle ($250 and above)
Over the past three years, we have brought in several outstanding musicians to solo at our concerts. We had the good fortune to work with several extraordinary soloists from all over the world. With their presence in Seattle, we have been able to present the freshest music from different parts of the globe to our audience. We would like to have more opportunities to invite extraordinary performers and composers to present new music in Seattle. We need your help if we want to continue presenting the best new music by the best new music performers.
The Seattle Modern Orchestra is always looking for talented musicians and helpful volunteers! We can always use an extra hand for the work it takes to put on one of our concerts. Whether it’s helping advertise, getting programs printed, ushering, or working the ticket counter, your help would be greatly appreciated. Without the support of music-lovers like you, we would not be able to exist.
To find out how you can play in one of our concerts or how you can help out in general, send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you prefer to assist us financially, you may submit your donation online here. All donations go through our fiscal sponsor, Shunpike, and are fully tax deductible.
Thank you for keeping modern music alive in Seattle!
